Our staff at IU Indianapolis and Ivy Tech Indianapolis assist you with everything from transferring credits to transferring financial aid. Qualifying students can take degree-focused courses at both IU Indianapolis and Ivy Tech at the same time. We also offer funding and fee-waiver opportunities for Passport students.

Our history: Thirty years of partnership
In February 1990, IU Indianapolis and Ivy Tech Vocational College (now known as Ivy Tech Community College) executed our first Memorandum of Agreement to support student success. In 1998, we coined the term “Passport,” and the Passport Program launched as a jointly funded office between Ivy Tech Community College Indianapolis service area (ITISA) and IU Indianapolis. ITISA includes the following Ivy Tech campuses:
- Indianapolis
- Lawrence
- Avon/Plainfield
- Boone County
As the name implies, Passport facilitates travel – for Ivy Tech students to IU Indianapolis and much more.
The Passport impact
Passport services are vital to the success of IU Indianapolis and Ivy Tech Indianapolis transfer students. Our partnership with Ivy Tech enables you to take classes at both institutions via the financial aid consortium agreement. Although the Passport Program serves Ivy Tech’s Indianapolis Service region of approximately 19,000 students, Ivy Tech Community College is a unified statewide system that serves more than 170,000 students each year. Ivy Tech is the state’s largest postsecondary institution and the country’s largest single-accredited statewide community college system.
